Toyota is investing 170 million dollars, some 140 million euros, at its plant in Blue Springs in the US state of Mississippi.
The North American branch of Toyota spends 140 million euros at its plant in Blue Springs, a production location where the brand has been producing the Corolla for the local market since the end of 2011. The location is preparing for the arrival from a completely new generation.
The investment is needed to prepare the production lines of the North American factory for the new Corolla, a car that, just like an ever-growing part of the Toyota range, will be on the modular TNGA basis. The arrival of the new Corolla is expected to create about 400 jobs. Toyota is also going to build the Corolla for the North American market in its new plant that it together with Mazda on legs in Alabama.
The amount from 140 million euros is part of Toyota’s plans to invest no less than 8.2 billion euros in its US-based plants over the next five years.
